Ave Roma
Last night Rob and I went to a lecture in the visitors' center at the Duke Gardens. It was about gardens in and around Rome. The subject was more interesting than the actual lecture, because the speaker didn't go into much detail about anything and she was a poor lecturer. As Rob put it, she sounded like oatmeal in a rubber glove.
But it wasn't worthless. I'd heard the names of most of these villas, and seen pictures of many of them, but couldn't put the two together. Like the Villa d'Este, Villa Lante, and the Villa Farnese.
I can say there was one villa I might have known just as much about - if not more - than the speaker, and that's the Villa Adriana.
