I just got a message from a woman in a public library I used to work in drumming up signatures for a petition about how CBS cancelled "Touched by an Angel" because they decided it was offensive to say "God" on television - or so the petition claims.
I was going to write back to her and tell her about that scene in the 1960 "Inherit the Wind" where a radio technician (Norman Fell, later Mr. Roper) tells Spencer Tracy that he can't say either "God" or "hell" on the radio, and when was that? 1925?
And then I figured she wouldn't get it and I deleted it without sending it.
The real reason they cancelled "Touched by an Angel" is probably because it was crap.
