Nostalgia
Rob came up to Durham the past two weekends, and in the evenings after watching a movie, I would dig through my records and play music. I've listened to some albums I hadn't listened to in a long time. Some, like this, remind me of a certain time in my life that for years I didn't want to remember. I must have gotten over that because I sure enjoyed hearing that record again.
Some, like this, just got lost in the shuffle.
And then there's this. Aye God, I don't think I had listened to that record in 20 years. I remember I got that while I was still in high school. It was one of the very first alter-native albums I ever bought. While I listened to it again it occurred to me that back then the music and I shared a secret, that there was better stuff out in the world waiting on me, and that new music could actually be good, instead of the 1980s crap that was all over the radio.
