Bye Bye Babycar
My car is gone. It was just hauled off by the Durham Rescue Mission, a local charity.
I almost feel like screaming, "What have I done?" but it was time for that car to go.
I had to go to the charity's office this morning to fill out paperwork and give them the car's title. They were on the east side of downtown so I had to ride over there on the city bus. The guy I spoke to yesterday gave me the impression they would come get the car immediately, so I thought I would ride back over here to work with the tow truck driver. But it turned out the truck wasn't coming until this afternoon, so I had to come back on the city bus as well.
Now I'm tired and a little sad.

Babycar Is Dead
Last Wednesday was the last day of undergraduate classes. In years past, this has always been when my bus quit running. So on Thursday I drove to work. My car was very, very sluggish. It was very slow to start off. It was so bad I decided to leave it here at the end of the day and come back after supper to get the car when traffic had died down.
After supper, the car wouldn't budge. I stepped on the gas and released the clutch peddle, and the engine revved up, but the car didn't move. The clutch is shot because I have been driving it with no first gear for almost a year.
It will cost $500 to fix the clutch and a rebuilt transmission will cost $990. I only paid $500 for the car. I'm just going to get it hauled off. As soon as I find the title.
And it turned out that this year my bus is continuing to run through this week.
