There's My Motivation
I did work out last night, the first time since before Christmas. I've read that if you work out on a regular basis for a while and then take a break, when you start back you can acheive more. I think I kind of saw that last night. I fairly flew through legs, shoulders, chest, and back, but then I started to get tired and rested longer between sets of arms, abs, and butt. Went into some weird autopilot mode when I was doing my second tricep exercise, the one where you raise and lower yourself off the edge of the bench. I don't know how I completed the second set, but I did. I think it was a less spectacular version of those adrenaline bursts that allow people to lift cars off wreck victims and whatnot. I definitely worked my triceps to exhaustion.
And today I swim.

Magazines I Like
Yesterday I said I didn't like the magazine Mean's Health. This is more like it. This one really toes the line, and while the articles are usually pretty decent and factual, the magazine is almost really about something else . . .
There's your motivation.
That cover guy has started popping up everywhere. Not really a fan - he's a little thin. I'm pretty sure he was air-brushed in that shot, especially the abs. He also looks like he's wearing mascara, which is bizarre.

Rule No. 1 - Forgive Thyself
When I got home after work yesterday the first thing I encountered was my luggage from my Christmas break which I had not bothered to unpack Monday night. The sight of it killed what motivation I had to work out.
I read though in a men's health magazine - Men's Health - that you have to forgive yourself when things like this happen. Motivation lags at times.
Men's Health kind of sucks. I don't realy go for the touchy-feely motivational crap, or the articles about women, or the photography (or rather lack thereof). I only subscribed to it because I signed up for some free gift and then when I didn't pay for the subscription they reported me to a collection agency. Then when that subscription ran out they notified me that they would automatically renew my subscription and bill me for it if I didn't cancel. I wrote "CANCEL" all over every notice they sent me. I'm still getting the damn thing. But I haven't gotten a bill.

I'm Back
This was my first day back at work since Dec. 22. I coulda posted while I was away, but I didn't feel like it. Plus the computer where I was has an annoying habit of disconnecting itself from the internet and then automatically trying to dial to reconnect. And I really didn't do anything to write about.
The day has somewhat kicked my ass but I'm going to try to get through a workout when I get home.
